Buying superworms in bulk can save you money but because they cannot be refrigerated, it is harder to keep them healthy and fed. Superworms are easily kept in a plastic container with ventilation holes in the lid. 1” – 2” of bran or rolled oats should be added to the container as a substrate which the worms live in and eat. Superworms require moisture but adding a water dish is not advisable as they can spill and make the substrate wet. Instead, simply add carrot or potato slices into your container once or twice a week. This will provide your superworms with moisture, food and will keep the substrate dry and mold free. Superworms will cannibalize if they do not have sufficient moisture. Once a month your superworms should be removed and their container should be thoroughly cleaned. Add additional substrate as needed.
